picking daisies
from her
wrists, she turns to me
with drug store
eyes and she
drops her heart at my
feet.

"it was a
no winner from the
beginning," she says,
and she is right--

and so i leave her
with her garden of eve
and a pocket full
of war stories; in the
rising sun, she tells me
that i no longer look like
Apollo, and i smile,

pick up my
half hearted
skeleton, my ragged bones and
my tired veins, and
i leave her standing
in the
doorframe-- i
find a new
home.
goodnight i am pooped

this entire thing is golden except:

 i tell her i
hate her, just to watch her
crumble, and then i
am gone.

that's too cliche for the rest of this wonder.
