how to comfort someone
with an anxiety disorder:

tell them to
grow up.
god knows
that they only panic
because they're just not
old enough
to handle themselves.

say that it's not
that bad.
because, hey,
since it's not bad for you,
it can't be for
them.
that's just how it works,
right?

"calm down".
this one
is my personal favorite.
because the one thing
that i want to hear
when i'm choking on my own sweat
and heart
is that i need to calm down.

ahhhhhhhhhHHHHHHH I FUCKING HATE EVERYThing

not really but y'know.

You didn't mention my personal favorite to hear - "Just get over it already!" Because yeah, it's really that easy....

I wouldnt know how to help or what to say but 'grow up' obviously doesn't do anything.

My parents and friends (the ones who aren't bothered to search up what it's like to have depression and anxiety) always say these things to me and l;sajsfd;lsdjflsfj IT MAKES ME SO MAD AND I JUST FREAK OUT MORE

In other words, I love (and hate) the relatability of this poem... as always, I love your writing <3

"I know you feel" is my favorite one insulting comfort. Or, "grow a pair".

I've never had a panic attack or other anxiety disorder, but I've been close to someone who has them.  They look quite debilitating, agonizing even.

In all seriousness, how should one go about comforting someone with an anxiety disorder?

it's different for everyone.

from what i've found, one of the best things to do is just /be there/. having the knowledge that someone is with you helps a lot. be gentle. listen.
